BGT's Simon Cowell 'cut David Walliams joke poking fun at his age' from ITV show

Britain’s Got Talent reportedly had a joke cut out of Saturday night’s show (April 23) in which David Walliams poked fun at Simon Cowell’s real age.

The 62-year-old music mogul, who heads up the judging panel on BGT, allegedly asked for the cheeky jibe to be slashed from the final edit of Saturday night’s show – weeks after it made its return to our telly screens.

In audition rounds that took place in January, the funny age-related joke was made by children’s author and comedian David to a less-than-impressed Simon.

The Sun reported that funny-man David, 50, said: “Are you a fan of Simon Cowell? Does he look like your granddad?”

While a source told the paper: “David’s comment got a laugh from the audience at the time and Simon didn’t appear to take offence.

It has been alleged that one joke was cut from a recent episode of Britain’s Got Talent

“It’s odd the joke was taken out of the final cut as David has made far cheekier gags about Simon and they’ve stayed in.”

Usually Simon is very receptive to jokes and jibes, with a recent one being when his pal David joked that newly svelte Simon lost 20lbs with the help of a gastric band.

Speaking about a lookalike magician who auditioned on the show, Simon said: “I wasn’t thrilled. He was what I would call probably a semi professional and we liked it because we have a lot of little magic acts, like playing cards.

David and Simon often share cheeky jibes with one another

“His was very big and I popped out of nowhere but our audience loves magic acts. That wasn’t my favourite part of the show, though.”

David then added: “You need to behave. He could only be your double if he had some plastic surgery.”

Simon then said: “I was thinking that,” before David made the jibe: “Also a gastric band.”

To which Simon said: “I haven’t got a gastric band!”

Viewers were quick to point out the choir are world famous

This comes as the popular ITV talent contest faces fresh fix claims.

Last weekend’s show saw a choir fast tracked through to the next round with four yes votes from the judging panel.

But one eagle-eyed fan couldn’t help but pick up on one detail.

Taking to Twitter the viewer penned: “London Community Gospel Choir are phenomenal. That’s why they’re well-known, successful and often on TV or other artists’ recordings. I have no idea why they’ve been allowed on to Britain’s Got Talent.”

Britain’s Got Talent airs every Saturday night on ITV and ITVHub.
