Big Brother icon teases surprise return for 2023 comeback as she 'needs new husband'

Chantelle Houghton has joked that she would do Big Brother again because she needs a new husband.

The star met her former hubby, Ordinary Boys’ Preston, when she was a contestant on the reality show back in 2006, but they have since split.

The much-loved series is making a comeback next year, but this time will be on ITV2.

Chantelle and Preston tied the knot the same year they met on Big Brother, but went their separate ways and divorced just 10 months later.

Earlier this year, Chantelle shared that she still has “chemistry” with her ex.

Opening up during a Facebook Live chat with Daily Star, she said: “Do you know what, I did a photoshoot with Preston a couple of years ago and I hadn’t seen him for 10 years and there was still that chemistry between us. There was still something there, and I think there always will be.

“But we’ve grown and gone our separate ways, and sadly there will be no reconciliation and no second wedding. But I still love him, I’ve got so much love for him and I always will have.”

Chantelle was on the celebrity series of the show and had to convince the other housemates that she was actually a famous pop star.

She told This Morning’s Vernon Kay and Rochelle Humes: “Honestly, I didn’t know what they had planned for me until I got into the house.

“I didn’t know anything. The only thing that I had been told was that it would be half celebrity and half non-celebrity. It was only once I got in that they said, actually, you are the only person in here.

“I think the fact that I had this task to complete sort of took away from the fact that I was, ‘Oh my God I’m in this house with loads of celebrities’.”

Big Brother aired on Channel 4 from 2000 to 2010 then moved to Channel 5 before being axed in 2018.

It has now been announced that the show will return in 2023 on ITV2 and new streaming platform ITVX.
