Big Brother icons Bex and Luke reunite 12 years after TV romance and bitter breakup

Big Brother star Bex Shiner recently reunited with ex-boyfriend Luke Marsden on the phone – their first conversation in 12 years.

The 35-year-old catapulted to fame when she appeared on the Channel 4 reality show in 2008 and kept the audience and her housemates entertained with her wild antics.

While in the house, Bex met Luke and the pair captured the hearts of the nation, with their unlikely love story translating off-screen and lasting for 18 months.

Speaking about when they first broke up, Bex explained: “I just wasn’t in love anymore and I left him. He was angry at me for a very long time.”

Bex and Luke were both approached to go on Ultimate Big Brother, however Luke didn’t want to do it with his ex-girlfriend.

“We got asked to go back in for Ultimate Big Brother but he wouldn’t go back in if I was going in,” she explained.

The brunette bombshell continued: “A couple of days before, we got told we weren’t going in because they didn’t want us to go in separately.”

Although their breakup wasn’t amicable, the sad death of their dog prompted Bex to make contact with Luke for the first time in over a decade.

The mum-of-one said: “We still had the dog from when we were together, so I thought he would need to know.

“I just asked if he wanted to have a conversation, to straighten some things out, put some things to rest just to make it a bit more memorable for us both.

“We spent a good two hours talking and it was the first time we’d spoken since we broke up,” the glamour model added.

She went on to say: “We spoke about a lot of things and talked things out to make our experience a bit more memorable because we had all this hatred.

“We put everything to rest. We were actually going to meet up but we didn’t need to in the end.”

Recalling how much fans loved them during Big Brother, Bex explained she thinks it was because they were the “odd couple” who “weren’t supposed to like each other”.

The former Babestation star added: “People didn’t get together in shows back then and I definitely didn’t think it would happen to me in a million years.”

She gushed: “It was a great time and I’ll never take it for granted because it was amazing.”
