Big Fat Gypsy Wedding’s Paddy Doherty back in hospital as fans rally around him

Big Fat Gypsy Wedding star Paddy Doherty is back in hospital amid his ongoing health battles.

The star offered an update to worried fans as he admitted he’s struggling to breathe after originally testing positive for Covid-19, hooked up to an oxygen mask in a hospital bed as he filmed a short video for social media.

Wearing a pale blue hospital gown, Paddy told the camera: “Back again. It’s just my lungs are not too good just with Covid and that.”

He assured fans that he’ll “be all right” and predicted he’d most likely be discharged “later today”, though the video was distorted slightly by the hiss of the oxygen.

His fans poured into the comments section to wish him well, with one writing: “Get well soon Paddy!”

“Praying for you Paddy,” someone else said, as another told him they were “sending love and healing”.

It comes amid a spate of health issues for the star this year, suffering a suspected heart attack just weeks before the death of his brother in May 2022.

Paddy was rushed into hospital in spring, posting the worrying Facebook caption: “My heart I think… I had a heart attack. [Breathing] keeps being difficult. Heart attack I thought.”

He sounded slightly out of breath in the videos posted to his account, and claimed he had been stuck in a hospital corridor for two days as they didn’t have the facilities to move him – and a group of other patients – to a ward.

But he was quick to reassure fans despite the oxygen mask: “There’s nothing wrong with me, I’m fantastic, I’ve just got this on… I’m in the hallway.”

The star added alongside a video of the hallway: “Hats off to the doctors and nurses. The Government have let us all down.”

He added: “The nurses and doctors, they’re in like machines. Let me tell you, they get no breather and they get no thanks. NHS they’re God’s angels. They fight with their heart and soul, and I’m going to say listen everyone, support them.”

Paddy also announced the sad death of his brother Martin this year, though no cause was given.

He told fans: “Just letting yous all know, my brother died at quarter past eleven, ten minutes ago, you know what I mean?

“And he’s gone to God now, he’s with his daddy… God rest that man. God bless you, thank you.”

Paddy looked heartbroken as he smoked a cigarette in the short clip, captioning the video: “RIP MY DEARLY LOVED BROTHER X.”
