The X Factor has kickstarted the careers of some of the world’s biggest artists.
The popular singing competition – created by music mogul and TV producer Simon Cowell – ran for 14 years as an ITV staple, pulling in over 14 million viewers during its peak.
It initially aired on telly screens in September 2004, replacing Pop Idol to find the nation’s newest stars.

But while the show was known for producing incredible talent, it’s also provided plenty of image transformations too.
Here, we take a look back at some of the show’s former contestants and how they’ve dramatically changes over the years.
Rylan Clark
Rylan Clark shot to fame in 2012 after appearing on the X Factor and making it through to the live shows despite Gary Barlow’s disapproval.
During his first audition at The O2 Arena, the star looked completely different as he performed a dance version of Des’ree’s ‘Kissing You’.
Rylan sported long blond hair instead of his usual jet-black whilst taking to the stage.
At the time, the presenter admitted to having cosmetic surgery to help enhance his appearance.
He said: “I’ve had Botox and had my lips done… I’m not obsessed with surgery but I’m obsessed with looking the best I can.”
Now, Rylan is one of the most sought after TV presenters in the country, hosting Supermarket Sweep, Big Brother’s Bit On the Side, and Strictly Come Dancing: It Takes Two.
He is said to have a net worth over nearly £5million from his impressive career.
Lucy Spraggan
Lucy Spraggan has managed to completely transform her appearance since auditioning for the X Factor in 2012.
The singer has always been gorgeous, but recent years have seen her devote herself to fitness, grafting hard to achieve a ripped physique.
As a result, Lucy has lost a whopping 3.5 stone.
The star has spoken openly about her weight-loss journey, and revealed she ditched beer, biscuits and bread in order to achieve her slimmer look.
During a previous appearance on Lorraine, she also admitted she had kicked the booze in order to help ditch the weight.
Lucy told PA at one point she was on only 500 calories a day, 1500 less than the recommended daily amount, saying: “All I really want to do is guide people on the same journey I have been on, that I am still on, but without all the mistakes.
“At the beginning I was eating 500 calories a day, which is not enough for an adult human being.
“And I just wanted to be able to put my message out there but with a qualified personal trainer and a nutritionist who know what they are talking about, to assist people to do the same.”
Chloe Khan
Chloe Khan auditioned for The X Factor in 2010 under the name Chloe Mafia.
The mother-of-one managed to make it through the the bootcamp stage of the singing competition.
However, she was kicked off the show after she allegedly turned up “smelling of vodka”.
Despite the setback, the former Celebrity Big Brother star has managed to completely reinvent her image by ditching her fake tan and lashes.
Since her first appearance, Chloe has confessed to undergoing a boob job or two, as well as rhinoplasty and veneers.
The brunette bombshell has also turned to OnlyFans to make some cash, and she certainly seems to be raking it in as fans have rushed to her account to buy her very scantily clad snaps.
Chloe previously admitted to spending £1m on surgery, telling The Sun: “Oh my God – how much have I spent on surgery? I would say overall, over the years, a million pounds.
“Not just surgery, but on hair extensions and facials, skincare and non-surgical procedures. I have a lot of upkeep as well, and I’m always in the hair salon.”
Jesy Nelson
It’s been over a decade since Jesy Nelson first auditioned as a solo artist on the X Factor.
The Romford-born singer made is through the first round of auditions in 2011, before joining Perrie Edwards, Leigh-Anne Pinnock and Jade Thirlwall in Little Mix.
And it appears her appearance has taken a massive overhaul, with fans being left stunned by her dramatic transformation.
Over the years, Jesy has ditched her old look by enlisting the help of a stylist and professional glam squad, and regularly shares snaps of her toned figure in skimpy outfits.
However, her voluminous locks haven’t changed much, as the star regularly flaunts her endless locks on social media.
After quitting Little Mix, Jesy came under fire as she was accused of black-fishing, where white people try to look darker skinned, following the release of her debut single Bad Boyz.
Cher Lloyd
The next shock transformation comes courtesy of solo artist Cher Lloyd, who left everyone talking following her first audition in 2010.
She finished fourth place in the seventh series before going on to enjoy a successful music career.
The singer auditioned for the show in ripped camo jeans, stiletto boots, and lots of bling, but has since muted her image.
Cher – who shares daughter Delilah-Rae with husband Craig Monk – has ditched her rapper style for a far more sophisticated look nowadays
Fans can’t get over her change in image, as she now sports natural but elegant make-up and opts to slick her hair back in comparison to her backcombing days on the X Factor.
Cher is now married and has welcomed a baby girl with her husband while pursuing her music career in Los Angeles.
Frankie Cocozza
X Factor hell raiser Frankie Cocozza was just 18 years old when he shot to fame on the ITV singing show.
The former bad boy found fame in the 2011 series of the X Factor, but was given the boot after production staff overheard him bragging about taking cocaine.
His career failed to take off after his brief ITV stint and the bad boy fell out of the limelight, bar an appearance on Celebrity Big Brother, before eventually settling down with his family.
Nowadays, Frankie sports a totally different look after cutting off his long hair and tidying up his image, sharing pictures of himself with gelled back hair.
The musician has also found love with wife Bianca.
He now resides in Sydney with family and has brushed off his bad boy image by posting snaps of himself alongside his wife and baby son, Frankie.
Ray Quinn
X Factor fans may remember Ray Quinn finishing in second place behind Leona Lewis on the third series of The X Factor in 2006.
The fresh faced star was only 18 when he competed on the show.
Following the singing competition, he shot to fame and later appeared on Dancing on Ice where he won the celebrity skating competition twice – in 2009 and in the All Stars show in 2014.
Ray now looks worlds away from the young teen after adopting a more rugged look – complete with a man bun, beard and tattoos.
