Billie Piper has opened up on the claims she was “drunk for five years” during her marriage to Chris Evans.
The former Doctor Who actress, who married the radio presenter when she was 18 in 2001, said she had to deal with a lot of “baggage” after leaving her music career behind to become an actress due to their relationship.
Billie, 40, also revealed that she had to deal with “tablosicid fodder” as she tried to create a new image for herself after releasing her debut single when she was 15.

She described the “fodder” as: “Rather than ‘oh she was a popstar’, it was more ‘she was a popstar, then she got p****d for five years with an old man.'”
The mum-of-three was married to Chris from 2001 to 2007 and then went on to marry the actor Laurence Fox from 2007 to 2016.
Talking candidly about her former marriage to Chris, she revealed to The Guardian: “Loved it, loved that time, learned so much, [I] really needed it, after the experiences that I’d had, leading up to that point and I felt like I’d actually found a real friend.”
She added: “I guess meeting someone who had experienced [fame] for 20 years, at that level, it was very nurturing and also very drunken, which I needed. I had a lot of fun during those years.”
Billie and Chris called it quits on their relationship in 2007 when Billie was 25, but have remained friends.

More recently, the actress has been dating musician Johnny Lloyd, with whom she shares her youngest child.
Since finding fame as Rose Tyler in Doctor Who and I Hate Suzie, Billie has also opened up about her rise to stardom and described the idea of fame to be “gross”.
She said: “It’s such a dark thing and it will change your everyday experience of life in a way that is depressing, frankly, in my experience of it.”
Billie hopes to act “less and less” as she enters her forties as the actress wants to “move into the production side of television.”
