Black Eyed Peas fans have had their “minds blown” after being told it is not Fergie singing the chorus of Where Is The Love.
The song was released by the group in June 2003 as the lead single from their third album Elephant and was said to be made in response to the 9/11 terror attack.
It was written by will.i.am, apl.de.ap, Taboo, Justin Timberlake, Printz Board, Michael Fratantuno, and George Pajon.
Many fans admitted they believed Fergie sang the chorus, which is in a higher pitch, and were amazed when TikTok user @bethanyandersonnn revealed it was actually Justin Timberlake.
While miming along to the famous lyrics of the chorus, “People killing, people dying, children hurting, I hear them crying”, the TikToker questions why she only just noticed his voice.
The video was watched more than 600,000 times and received 45,000 “likes” – with people in the comments debating if the voice ever did sound like Fergie.
One viewer said: “Thought it was one of the other peas.”
A second wrote: “I DID NOT KNOW THIS but now I can’t understand how I never noticed. I can’t un-hear it now.”
Someone else commented: “I’M SORRY WHAT? Omg, the life I knew is crashing down all around me. What is happening?”
Meanwhile, many users said it was clearly JT singing the chorus and couldn’t believe other listeners had got it so wrong.
“The fact Fergie sounds nothing like Justin Timberlake is the biggest clue maybe,” said one.
A second wrote: “It sounds exactly like him yet somehow I never noticed.”
The TikTok user pointed out Justin Timberlake does not appear in the official Where Is The Love music video or in the credits on YouTube, adding to the confusion.
Another replied: “Very true – I just checked Spotify and he has a writing credit but not a performance one. Mind blown!”
