Blink 182 star Mark Hoppus says he's 'cancer free' as he teases new music

Blink-182’s bassist and joint vocalist Mark Hoppus has admitted that he is grateful to be alive after the star revealed that he is now cancer-free.

The 50-year-old singer, who lent his voice to iconic Blink tracks such as I Miss You and All The Small Things, spoke to TMZ about the declaration.

He said that “life is great” and admitted that he’s “glad to be here,” later adding that he was “just getting back” to being in public spaces again.

Hoppus also added that he “most want to get back into the studio and back to playing music,” whilst joking that he also couldn’t wait to “get off his couch”.

TMZ reported that Mark said he has been “doing well” since he was given the all-clear after receiving the positive news back in September and when asked about new music, the singer replied: “Hopefully soon.”

The father-of-one accidentally revealed to the world that he was undergoing treatment for cancer when he made an upload mishap on Instagram.

Mark, who suffered from large B-cell lymphoma stage 4-A, shared a photograph of himself in the chemotherapy clinic with the caption: “Yes, hello. One cancer treatment please.”

The picture was only intended to be shared with a small group of people close to him but the accident saw his millions of followers set off in a frenzy.

He spoke to GQ about the blunder: “Maybe part of me subconsciously posted it to my main, but I definitely didn’t do it on purpose. I don’t know. It kind of felt like a Band-Aid had been ripped off and I was able, to be honest with people.”

When he was officially rid of the disease, Mark took to his social media accounts to share the positivity with his fans and said that he had “just seen his oncologist” who had told him he was “cancer-free”.

One “thanked God” and congratulated the rock star, while another said that they “didn’t even know him” yet the news had “made their day”.
