Call the Midwife fans have been celebrating after fan favourite Daniel Laurie has been nominated for Best Actior in this year’s TV Choice Awards.

The actor also responded to the news, saying the nomination makes him “feel alive.”

Both the actor and his character have Down’s Syndrome – the show’s creator Heidi Thomas was partly inspired to introduce Reggie in series six by her brother David who also had the condition but sadly died young.
Kind-hearted Reggie was first introduced back in 2017 after tragedy struck.
He was living with his elderly mother until she suffered a fatal heart attack at church. Luckily his distant cousin Fred Buckle (Cliff Parisi) and his wife Violet (Annabelle Apsion) stepped in to look after Reggie as their own son.
As Reggie has Down’s syndrome he was given a permanent place at the Glasshouse Trust, a care facility with a community of young adults with disabilities, and he regularly visits his family and friends in Poplar.
