Channel 4 fans gobsmacked as human dissection is 'most graphic thing shown on TV ever'

Channel 4 viewers have been left in complete shock after they tuned into My Dead Body to watch a human dissection.

Audiences switched over to the programme and were faced with extremely graphic scenes as the body of Toni Crews was dissected on television.

Toni was a young mum with a rare terminal cancer who had donated her body to science to be studied.

One wrote: “Oh god, the cracking open of the skull will never leave me now. Why am I still watching. This is unbelievable.”

Another tweeted: “100% got to be the most graphic thing shown on TV ever.”

A third wrote: “I’m only just tuning in to My Dead Body, knowing nothing about it, and I’m astonished. What an extraordinary and selfless young woman to donate her body to medical science in this way. Thoughts going out to her family, as it’s a harrowing watch just for strangers.

Others said that they were “absolutely speechless” and that they “didn’t know how to feel” but they “couldn’t stop watching”.

One amazed viewer admitted that they “had their mouth open in amazement” while watching the show.

Toni has made history as the first ever human body to be dissected on air.

Claire Smith ran the dissection

She died aged 30 after having her eye removed and a long battle with cancer, during which she regularly posted updates on her health on social media.

Toni uploaded pictures to her Instagram profile and went on to donate her body to science.

Crews died in 2020 and the Channel 4 documentary has used voice replication technology to re-enact her diary entries.

Messages to her loved ones were heard on the programme using the voice.

Viewers were shown the inside of Toni’s body

Professor Claire Smith was seen leading workshops on Toni’s body but has previously confessed that she was “nervous” for the procedure.

She opened up to The Mirror and said: “We have been so privileged to explore the journey of cancer through the incredible donation made by Toni. As part of this documentary, we were able to invite more than 1,000 students, including nurses, paramedics and neuroscientists, who wouldn’t normally get to learn about this one in a million cancer.”

Claire went on to say: “Toni’s gift of body donation doesn’t end with this documentary either. Her body will be used to educate our medical students and doctors for years to come.”
