Chase and Status are about to release their sixth album and about to embark on a jam-packed summer.
The drum and bass duo will be hitting up festivals all over the country and globally and can’t wait to play some of their new tunes from their upcoming What Came Before album.
In the runnings of their favourite festivals is Creamfields, which will be having two events this year – one northern and one southern.
The Southern show will kick off in Chelmsford on the 2nd of June and will see great dance acts grace the stages.
One half of the world-famous double act, Will Kennard, spoke exclusively to the Daily Star about the festival and what’s coming up for the pair this year.
He said: “In terms of festivals, it feels like the biggest dance festival in the world, it has the most ridiculous lineup and I always think how have they got every single act which is involved with dance music? It’s just mega.
“There’s nowhere we prefer to play than the UK and being paid to play music around the world is a dream job and we’re so excited to play our new music.”
Talking about crazy festival antics, Will revealed how one crazed fan once tried to attack him while wearing a teddy bear suit.
He recalled: “I had a guy dressed in a giant teddy bear outfit try and attack me on the stage once, I remember security diving to protect me after they saw him run on the stage.
“My security guy horizontally rugby tackled this huge teddy bear who was coming for me and they both flew off the stage and into the crowd that was quite surreal, but I still survived to tell the tale”
Chase and Status are currently about to release their brand new album right in time for summer which they really hope to encapsulate the ideology of British rave culture.
Talking about some of their album features, he added: “We collaborated with this young superstar in the making than Ethan Holt.
“In the past, we have done songs with Tom Grennan and Plan B who at the time weren’t megastars but we’ve had the moment with them and they’ve gone onto amazing things and being part of someone’s journey is really exciting.”
The pair have also previously worked with music icon Rihanna, which Will AKA Status described as “surreal”.
The producer explained: “It was very surreal, she was absolutely awesome. You can tell there no is no phoniness going on there she is quite a real person, she was exactly how we thought she’d be, very straight-talking and if she didn’t like a song she’d tell you and that’s really nice to work with someone like that.
“She also had a wicked sense of humour and we hung out with Jay-Z and Drake at the time and Pharell it was a mad time for us.
“We thought she wanted pop stuff but she was like ‘no, make me some filthy bassline’ and we rated her for that.”
He continued: “We would love to work with her again but she is busy just taking over the universe with her makeup and lingerie and now baby, so I’m not holding my breath but she will go on forever.”
The other half of the double-act, Saul Milton (Chase), is also currently entering a big career U-turn, says his partner Will.
He laughed: “Saul has become obsessed with pizza and the science of pizza making to the point where he is setting up his own restaurant called Saul’s Slice – he’s become like a don of pizza making it’s all he talks about.”
But that doesn’t mean an end to the music, Will claims.
“We still feel as young as when we started doing it, that’s what the album title was about ‘What Came Before’. We looked back at our career and we are so lucky to get this far…
“It’s a full-circle feeling for us, I don’t know what the future holds but it’s great, and we’ve got another big summer of shows. We’ve got a fair few more years in us yet I’m sure…”
