Each month features a portrait of a different animal accompanied by a “delightful photograph of its excrement in situ” – plus Chris’ first hand account of his encounters with the poo.
It also boasts an “are you s* me” quiz.
Introducing the calendar, which costs £20 plus postage, The Really Wild Show and Springwatch presenter said: “There is so much s*** around these days you mustn’t lose sight of the real deal – the soft brown squelchy stuff on the sole of your shoe.
“It’s packed full of interesting aromas and masses of important stuff that cutting edge science needs to better understand and conserve so many species.
“It’s superbly ironic that so many species ‘in the s***’ are finding a way out of it through what exits their anus.
“I love that, because I love all life, everything that creeps, crawls, slithers, slimes and stings, and everything that comes out of its arse.’”
In a Twitter video Chris, 61, revealed the calendar features the excrement of a host of species including pigs, badgers and the Galapagos tortoise – which a student collected 680kg of from 32 animals.
Proudly holding up the calendar the telly environmentalist said: I’ve squeezed out one of kind.’’ He then picked up a lump of badger poo and said: “Don’t be absurd, it’s more than a turd.”
This is packed full of scientific information.’’ As he put the dung under his nose he added: “And it smells good too!’”
The wallplanner’s advertising blurb said: “Chris Packham brings you the seasons crappest calendar, constipated with his s*** pictures and all you need to know about the world’s most fascinating faeces.
“But aside from the piles of poo there is a wealth of sensational new science which throws the spotlight on s*** when it comes to the wonders of nature..
“It’s a fun, funny, pun-packed, obscenely interesting publication suitable for all the family.’’
