The 76-year-old, who lives in Berkshire, said: “They’ve been with us since the beginning of the war. There is three of them. There’s a mum, there’s a daughter and there is a little baby.”
Chris, who is a father of four, said the family had been sleeping on the floor of airports in Poland before they moved in with him.
He said: “The actual exit from Ukraine is just a horror story. They have been with us now, eight months.
“I’m getting them a flat soon which I’m paying for or whatever, because I really want them to be closer to the city centre so they can just walk to the shops.
“They have enhanced my life these people,” he told hosts Kate Garraway and Richard Madeley.
“The baby… I mean, I know I’ve had my own kids and so on but this baby is so sweet.
“She was seven months, now if she had stayed she’d be on the front of a tank or something!
“I mean the idea of what happened and how they got away is just extraordinary, and they are the sweetest people.”
