The 2022 Commonwealth Games is coming to a close tonight and the closing ceremony will mark the end of 11 days of sporting action that has seen 4,500 Commonwealth athletes compete across 27 sports.
Like the rest of this year’s games, the Ceremony is being held in Birmingham and will take place in the same venue as the opening ceremony – the Alexander stadium.
The highly-anticipated line-up has finally been revealed and is set to include some spectacular performances from Black Country musicians, as well as a nod to the hit TV show Peaky Blinders.
Martin Green, chief creative officer of the Birmingham Games, said: “With this closing ceremony, we wanted to create a spectacular line-up of global artists from the West Midlands for an exhilarating musical production to conclude an unforgettable 11 days of sport and culture.
“The medley of high-octane performances will celebrate the vibrant energy and cultural heritage of this incredible city, as we bring these spectacular home Games to a fitting end.”

Commonwealth Games Closing Ceremony line-up in full
Birmingham band UB40, West Midlands star Jorja Smith and Wolverhampton legend Beverley Knight are all among the musician’s performing at the Birmingham Commonwealth Games closing ceremony tonight.
The line-up will celebrate the musical heritage of the West Midlands and puts the spotlight on some of the regions best performers, featuring an array of musicians from Birmingham and the rest of the Black Country.

The closing ceremony will also feature a sequence from the musical Peaky Blinders: The Redemption of Thomas Shelby, which has its world premiere in Birmingham next month.
How to watch the Commonwealth Games closing ceremony
The 2022 Commonwealth Games Closing Ceremony will kick off at the Alexander Stadium at 8pm tonight (August 8), but if you don’t have tickets you can still catch all of the action live on TV.
The closing ceremony will be broadcast live on BBC One and will also be available to stream live on BBC iPlayer from 8pm until 10pm.
