Coronation Street’s Bernie Winter is set to get the blame for Joseph Brown’s recent disappearance, after he was found safe and sound last week.
The little lad vanished into thin air and viewers know that Hope Stape (Isabella Flanagan) had hidden him in the attic and forced him not to expose her antics.
But new Coronation Street spoilers have revealed that Bernie (Jane Hazlegrove) will be accused as she gets involved with the reward money.
As next week opens up, Dev Alahan (Jimmi Karkishin) suggests to Bernie that he wants to take both of their families out to Speed Daal to announce that they’re now a couple.
Bernie is chuffed and invites everyone out, but Chesney (Sam Aston) wonders how she can afford it.
It’s not long before Fiz (Jennie McAlpine) find’s Hope’s giant stash of sweets, after Bernie’s mate Clint gave her and Joseph (William Flanagan) £100 of the £30,000 reward money when he claimed he’d been the one to find them.
Bernie warns Hope to stay away from Joseph and not to let slip about her little deal with Clint, either.
At the dinner, Dev announces that he and Bernie are officially a couple.
Bernie is still worried that the secret will be revealed and makes it clear to Joseph he has to stay quiet and not spend his own £100 or they’ll get into trouble.
Later, she slips Joseph the video game he’d been wanting, telling him not to tell his parents.
But when Evelyn (Maureen Lipman) finds it, she’s convinced he’s stolen it, prompting Bernie to say she bought it with her pay rise from Dev, which only angers Evelyn more.
Dev buys Bernie’s story though, hoping it’ll stop Chesney feeling bad about her buying gifts, but Evelyn isn’t convinced.
Bernie vehemently denies any involvement in Joseph’s disappearance, but Evelyn won’t have it and calls the police.
Eventually, Bernie breaks down and tells them everything, which sees her and Chesney hauled in by police for questioning.
Afterwards, Bernie tells son Paul (Peter Ash) that everything she did was with the best of intentions, and just hopes Joseph tells the truth.
But will he?
Coronation Street airs Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays on ITV
