Coronation Street star Daniel Brocklebank has teased that a “meaty” storyline is on the way for vicar Billy Mayhew in the new year.
The 42-year-old actor has played the popular character in the ITV soap for almost nine years.
He’s been at the centre of some of the biggest drama in Weatherfield and it doesn’t look like things will be settling down anytime soon for Billy.

Daniel said: “We’re just at the beginning now of a rather big storyline for Billy, so I am looking forward to the next 12-18 months.
“The stuff we’re shooting now won’t be on screen until February.
“I’m in my ninth year and I’ve never worked anywhere longer than two years ever. I’ve been doing this for a living for 30 years but this is by far the longest I’ve ever worked anywhere.
“I adore it and love it here. You can coast for a bit. There’s a lot of regular characters so there are years your quieter in storyline but it is always lovely when they give you something meaty and fun.”
Addressing if it could involve Billy’s exes Todd Grimshaw (Gareth Pierce) and Paul Foreman (Peter Ash), he explained: “Well, maybe you’ll be pleased, maybe you won’t.”
Daniel later went on to share whether or not he could be killer Stephen Reid’s (Todd Boyce) next victim.
He said: “I hope not, I’ve got a mortgage.”
“We share a dressing room. He’s [Todd Boyce] nothing like the character, he’s a delight.”
It comes after the Stephen actor said co-stars are quaking in their boots as they could be bumped off by his villainous character.
Todd Boyce previously told Daily Star: “In the green room I’m offered a lot of cups of tea by a lot of actors who want to find out how long I’m going to be doing the show and how many people I’m going to kill.
“They offer me their seats, and… no, it’s a running joke. I think he’s capable of just killing more people and going on and doing that.
“It’s like a gambler, the further he’s in the further he digs the hole, I guess.”
Coronation Street airs Monday, Wednesday and Friday on ITV at 8pm
