Coronation Street’s Paul Foreman has been a fan favourite since he first appeared on the cobbles back in 2018 as Gemma Winter’s twin brother.
From striking up a relationship with vicar Billy Mayhew to a harrowing child abuse plot, actor Peter Ash has brought plenty to love about his iconic character since his introduction as David Platt’s cellmate.
But fans have been left baffled after finally realising Paul’s name isn’t Paul at all.

A scene in the Bistro with the twins’ mum Bernie had viewers scratching their heads as she struggled to pay for the meal while saving for Joseph’s school uniform.
But she ended up referring to Gemma and Paul by their full names – Gemini and Apollo.
Which technically means Paul should be shortened to ‘Pol’, for Apollo.
Taking to Reddit to share their confusion over the naming blunder, one social media user said: “Suddenly just realised that Paul isn’t ‘Paul’… he’s ‘Pol’ as in ‘Apollo’.”
Another chimed in: “Also Bernie is Bernadine, not Bernadette as it usually is!”
Another fan, who was clearly clued up in Greek legend, pointed out: “Bernie muddled up her mythology a bit there. Gemini refers to the twins Castor and Pollux, whereas Apollo’s twin sister was Artemis. Could’ve called them Cassie and Paul…”
“Very on brand for Bernie!” someone else agreed.
A fifth fan echoed: “His full name is Apollo, and now all I can heard when anyone says his name is Pol!”
It comes as spoilers reveal Bernie is set to meet someone who looks just like her as newcomer Fern arrives on the street, played by Corrie veteran Gabrielle Glaister.
Jane explained that she was constantly mistaken for Bernie star Jane Hazlegrove while out and about, explaining to Metro: “I mentioned this idea to Jonathan a while ago. Gabby and I are constantly mistaken for each other with people saying they have seen one of us in something when it was the other one.

“We have often laughed about it together but then I started thinking it might be fun to have her in the show as Bernie’s secret twin or a doppelgänger.
“I was so chuffed when they told me that they had devised this storyline and that Gabby was on board.”
The story focuses on Bernie accidentally being given a blue blazer by a shop assistant and returning home with it, only for Fern to turn up arguing that nobody in Coronation Street could afford such a garment.
But the pair soon realise they’ve got a lot more in common than they have to argue about.
Coronation Street airs Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 8pm on ITV.
