Coronation Street fans have called for Dr Thorne to be given the boot after he took a selfie with Peter Barlow as he operated on him.
Peter received a new liver last summer after he sustained serious damage to his own because of his troubled alcohol addiction.
His transplant storyline was recently revisited and during Monday’s (May 9) episode of the ITV soap, fans were left raging after a photo emerged.
Peter and his partner Carla Connor were shown a photo of the former on the surgery table, while his doctor, Henry Thorne, posed for a selfie holding his liver.

After Peter saw the picture, viewers watching the ITV soap fumed on social media.
One fan raged: “Taking a selfie of someone’s new liver before you operate on them! F***ing a*****e!!
A second wrote: “Wow? What an absolute di***ead of a surgeon. Fancy taking a selfie with Peter’s liver.”
A third viewer posted: “Dr Thorne should be sacked for doing that. Taking a selfie holding Peter’s liver is nasty.”

While another said: “I am absolutely disgusted…. He took a selfie? Good grief. What a sicko!”
However, other viewers found the storyline amusing, with one fan of the soap penning online: “A selfie with Peter’s liver…shouldn’t laugh but…,” which was followed by several laughing emojis.
A second wrote: “A selfie with Peter’s mankie liver is hilarious. Who comes up with this stuff?”

Another viewer said: “I know it’s bad what that surgeon mr Thorne done but holding up peters liver in theatre I shouldn’t laugh then Peter saying “like far foie – gras” what a line that was #corrie.”
Later in the episode, Peter confronted Dr Thorne while he was out for dinner and linked him to Hannibal Lecter, saying he is “as much of a psycho.”
As Thorne taunted him by saying he did nothing wrong, Peter lashed out and punched him and was eventually arrested for assault.
