Coronation Street legend Vicky Entwistle has revealed she no longer watches the show – due to a lack of on-screen `talent’.
The actress, who played gobby Janice Battersby for 14 years, told fans on Twitter the ITV soap had become a turn-off.
But she said she may start tuning in again following the decision to bring back the character of eco-warrior Geoffrey David `Spider’ Nugent – played by actor Martin Hancock – this summer.
Vicky, 53, who left Corrie in 2011, tweeted: “This may just be the best news I have heard in the last 10 years!!
“Bring the Talent back!!! Might start watching now!!”

Fan Peter said: “Brilliant. Classic Corrie from 70s, 80s, 90s and early 00s was superb.
“Much missed. Needs to get back to being character driven with stories people care about that reflect normal working class lives rather than all this sensationalist stuff.”
Viewers said the soap should also bring back Vicky’s character, her screen hubby Les, played by Bruce Jones, 69, and binman Curly Watts – actor Kevin Kennedy, 60.

One said: “Now all Corrie needs to do is bring you back and Bruce as Les and Kevin Kennedy back as Curly and all is well.”
Another wrote to the actress: “You’re too honest about the state of the programme to get invited back.
“But many people applaud your honesty rather than a disillusion of the truth.
“It’s gone downhill since the days you were in it.
“You were the end of the Golden Years 2.”

Martin, 53, will resume the role he played as Emily Bishop’s eco-warrior nephew from 1997 to 2003 this month – appearing on screens in July.
His character when he headed to London to start a new life with Janice’s screen daughter Toyah – played by actress Georgia Taylor, 42.
They later separated with Spider moving to Peru while – after a failed marriage – Toyah returned to the Street in 2016.
Corrie producer Iain Macleod said: “Martin is a fabulous actor and Spider is a character with real heritage and affection from fans.”
