Corrie newbie Jalena star’s life – co-star mum, modelling fame and ITV pals

Coronation Street’s newest child star has already created drama on the ITV cobbles, after Jalena beat Sam Blakeman at his chess tournament.

The youngster has been getting into the game after the sad death of his mum Natasha, and made it all the way to the final at the Bistro-based competition before Jalena scooped the win.

And in true Sam fashion, he fled the table without even shaking her hand.

But, unbeknownst to them, their parents arranged for the pair to meet – could they strike up an unlikely friendship after Sam’s big defeat?

One thing looks certain – actress Kyrah Wallace looks like she might be sticking around a bit longer. But what about her life away from the soap? From modelling fame to her co-star mum, we delve into her real life.

Child modelling fame

Kyrah is a model outside of Corrie

Jalena might be Kyrah’s first soap role, but she has undertaken plenty of work before – mainly as a model.

The star regularly models for brands including JD Sports, Haven Holidays, Morrisons and Debenhams.

Her Instagram page, run by her mum, is full of snaps of Kyrah modelling sportswear for various brands, and she even appeared on a zip-line for a Haven video advertisement.

In December 2021, Kyrah’s mum celebrated her landing the front page of the JD Sports website, writing on social media: “Look who made the @JDSports homepage again! #SuperProud”.

Co-star mum

She stars alongside her mum in various campaigns

In fact, Kyrah’s mum doesn’t only run her social media – she has also starred alongside her in various modelling campaigns.

The pair climbed into a hot tub together to promise Lazyspa for Mother’s Day, along with appearing in ads for Selfridges together.

In celebration of International Women’s Day, Kyrah’s mum wrote online: “Late to the party but knowing the importance of being a woman is something I talk to Kyrah about on a regular basis.

“We are all QUEENS regardless of the day of the week. Here’s an editorial called #KeepItInTheFam from the project Kyrah and Mum did for Selfridges!”

The pair recently welcomed a brand new addition to their family – an adorable cavapoo named Princess.

Sharing the sweet snaps of Princess in her Christmas jumper, the pair wrote on Instagram: “A little late as always, but here’s our new addition to the family! Meet Princess!”

Other TV work

She has also appeared in a CBBC programme

Before starring on the coveted cobbles, Kyrah also made a name for herself in the CBBC series Andy and the Band earlier this year, in which she appeared as Maid Marian in the episode Odd Socks in the Hood.

She’s also appeared in the short films Stranger Side and Transgressing – which is currently in post-production.

Corrie pals

The trio made fast friends

Since signing up to the cobbles, Kyrah has already made fast friends with Jude Riordan, who plays Sam, and Isabella Flanagan, known for her role as Hope Stape.

The gang regularly share behind-the-scenes snaps together on social media, with Kyrah’s mum writing: “Corrie kids crew! So much fun on and off set, memories that will last forever.”

The trio could be seen snapping selfies in the green room, before Kyrah took a picture outside her dressing room and alongside a famous cobbled wall.

Jude also shared a set of pictures to his own social account, writing: “Green Room fun with Bella & Kyrah – really loved those scenes and the scenes Hope and Sam are having!”

And his on-screen mum Rachel Leskovac chimed in: “Love that you’ve got some people your age to work with.”

Coronation Street airs Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 8pm on ITV.
