Coronation Street star Sair Khan has admitted she “should be on Emmerdale” as she teased a major ITV move.
The star appeared at the MEN Pride of Manchester awards on Tuesday (May 10), tasked with presenting an award for Emergency Services, which went to PC Simon Toft and PC Alicia Snowden.
The officers were first on the scene at the Stockport medical centre where one man armed with three kitchen knives and a meat cleaver was threatening to stab patients.
Sair was presenting the award alongside her Corrie co-stars Shelley King – who plays her on-screen gran Yasmeen – and Julia Goulding, who stars as Shona Platt.
And now Sair has teased a move within ITV as she admitted she “should be” on Emmerdale.
Speaking exclusively to Daily Star on the red carpet, the stunner said: “If I could appear on any soap it would probably be Emmerdale, because it’s our sister show – sister or cousin.
“My grandparents are from Leeds and I’m from Leeds, so really I should be on Emmerdale but I’m accidentally on Corrie!”
Sair, who rocked a teeny black number on the red carpet, admitted sustainability was the driving force behind her outfit.
She explained: “My inspiration is wear what you already have, because it’s all about sustainability!
“I’ve thrown so much out recently, but there’s so much I wanted to keep hold of, and I’m just like, ‘I’m just going to repeat wear!’ which is what we should be doing more of.”
Sair donned a plush black blazer over her thigh-high dress and draped a string of pearls around her neck, matching up her incredible ensemble with a pair of glitzy sandals which left her toned legs on full display.
Her sleek brunette tresses fell to her shoulders as she grinned alongside her co-stars and award winners, while her on-screen gran Shelley King opted for a beige button-up suit and a black and silver dupatta over her right shoulder.
Julia looked incredible as ever in an ankle-length black dress featuring chunky shoulder straps and bright orange leopard-print heels.
I’m A Celeb star Sair couldn’t resist spilling a little dirt on her character Alya, as she gushed: “Well my dream storyline, actually, I think it might just be about to happen! I had a chat with the producer last week and we’re taking things in a really different direction.
“Something really unexpected happens and it changes Alya’s perspective on everything, so it’s a future that wasn’t expected but I’m really excited about it.”
The MEN Pride of Manchester Awards, in partnership with TSB, will premiere on YouTube at 7pm on Tuesday 17 th May.
