Dan Walker has been a “pillar of support” for Strictly Come Dancing professional Nadiya Bychkova after she called off her engagement to Matija Škarabot.
According to reports, the BBC Breakfast host, 44, has now built up such a “deep and special bond” with his former partner that he was able to really help Nadiya through what must have been a tough time.
On Tuesday, it was announced that Nadiya and Slovenian footballer Matija were going their separate ways after they’d struggled to maintain their long distance relationship.
Matija, who lives in Slovenia, has unfollowed the BBC dancer on Instagram and has also not been seen on Nadiya’s social media feed for several months.

In an interview with the DailyMail, a source hailed Dan as a being “pillar of strength” for Nadiya during her breakup with Matija.
The insider explained: “The bond between them started during Strictly, leaving the cast and crew surprised at how close they became. They were literally inseparable and got on so well and this has continued even now the series is over.”
Another source told the publication: “Dan supported Nadiya with everything, including her breakup, which only made their partnership stronger. He even grew close to her mother and daughter, who really enjoyed watching them dance together on Strictly.

“Dan and Nadiya enjoy a deep and special bond, which has really helped her to get on with her new life following the split.”
TV star Dan struck up a great friendship with Nadiya during his 2021 stint on the BBC show – and even met the Ukrainian-Slovenian star’s mother and daughter Mila for dinner.
Dan has been happily married to his wife Sarah for 21 years and likes to keep his private life away from the cameras.

However, Sarah did make a rare appearance on Strictly and was shown supporting her husband and father of her three children from the studio audience.
On Wednesday, the blonde Ballroom and Latin two-time world champion seemed to be in good spirits as she took to Instagram showing her glam squad at work.
In the snap, Nadiya can be seen pouting and smiling up a storm for the camera while her makeup artist was on-hand to help with looking Strictly ready for a dress rehearsal.
