Matt stepped up to replace Rufus Hound after he’d tested positive for Covid-19 during the 2021 series of the ITV skating show.

Before Matt’s appearance on Dancing On Ice he was actually left pondering over a career change after the pandemic had left him “skint”.

He hailed the programme that is hosted by Phillip Scofield and Holly Willoughby for “saving his career”.

In an interview with The Sun at the time, Matt explained: “I was looking at a career change or to just leave the industry altogether, because it’s tough times.

“Dancing On Ice has been a career saver.”
