Dancing On Ice viewers go wild over new skater Tippy as they praise 'insane' dance

Dancing On Ice frequently leaves viewers on the edge of their seats for mixed reasons but when it came to a new skater, it was for all the right reasons.

BMX ace Kye Whyte made his debut on the ITV ice rink with professional ice skater Tippy Packard, scoring an impressive 24 out of 40.

The 22 year old who scooped a silver medal at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games burst onto the ice with Tippy with Dizzie Rascal’s hit single, Bonkers.

Instantly, viewers took to social media to share their delight as they became hooked on the positive energy the pair were radiating.

“Well done Kye that was a great routine and song choice I liked the bike at the beginning and a huge welcome to one of our new professionals Tippy,” said one.

While a second added: “Kye and Tippy. That was insane! #DancingOnIce.”

A third typed: “Kye and Tippy are f***ing good, mind #DancingOnIce.”

“Kye is one to watch think he is going to be great #DancingOnIce,” penned a fourth.

Before a fifth waded in with: “I’m rooting for Kye. He was such a superstar of the Olympics & I hope he has a great run in #DancingOnIce.”

However, life wasn’t always as easy for Kye who faced an uncertain life following a horror bike accident when he was just 13.

The professional biker was left in a medically-induced coma for five days with a bleed on his brain, leaving him unable to get behind the handlebars for a year to aid his recovery.

Speaking to The Guardian, he said: “I had a bleed on the brain and they put me in an induced coma for five days, just waiting for me to wake up.

“When I woke up and I was able to go to the toilet by myself, I could leave. On my first try, I actually fell down. That’s all I remember.

“To be fair, I don’t know why I still do it, but it’s obviously worked out now.”

Kye joined the Team GB Cycling team back in 2017 and his previous injuries are not holding him back as he continues to go from strength to strength.

Dancing On Ice returns to ITV next Sunday at 6.30pm.
