Dec Donnelly welcomes second child with wife Ali as he pays tribute to brother

Declan Donnelly has announced that his wife Ali Astall has given birth to their second child.

The pair have welcomed a baby boy named Jack Anthony Alphonsus who the presenter called a “very welcome ray of light.”

Dec, 46, announced the news on the official Ant and Dec Twitter page with an adorable post.

Alongside a picture of baby Jack’s hand gripped around his, Dec told his 6.8 million followers: “Shortly before 10am yesterday, 23.7.2022, Ali and I welcomed the arrival of our son, Jack Anthony Alphonsus, a very welcome ray of light. He is wonderful and Isla is beyond excited to be a big sister! D x.”

The I’m A Celeb star and his talent manager wife tied the knot in 2015 and are already doting parents to two-year-old Isla.

Ali’s second pregnancy hadn’t been announced by the pair, but rumours began to circulate when she didn’t accompany Dec to the TV Bafta’s back in May.

The baby boy’s name is partly in tribute to Dec’s father, Alphonsus Donnelly, who passed away in 2011.

It seems the presenter has also given a sweet nod to his partner and best pal Ant McPartlin after giving Jack the middle name Anthony.

The ITV star’s news comes shortly after the death of his older brother, Father Dermott Donnelly.

The priest passed away aged 55 in hospital earlier this month after falling “extremely unwell.”

The brothers shared a close bond, with Father Donnelly officiating his little brother’s wedding to Ali back in 2015.

The TV favourite is set to say an emotional goodbye to his brother at his funeral which is set to take place this Friday in Newcastle.

The funeral will be attended by priests and clerics from across the North East, where Father Dermott served the Catholic church for 30 years.

Dec took to Twitter to share his heartbreak at losing his brother, saying: “I am heartbroken to tell you that my darling brother Fr Dermott, @TweeterPriest, sadly passed away this afternoon.

“We are all beyond devastated. Thank you for your messages of sympathy and support, they are appreciated DD.”
