Denise Van Outen downloads online dating app as she seeks therapy over split

Love split TV star Denise Van Outen says she has downloaded a dating app after having therapy to become the “best person I can be for my next relationship”.

She admitted her break-up from partner of seven years Eddie Boxshall had ‘literally floored’ her.

Denise threw out the 49-year-old commodities trader after catching him sexting behind her back.

But the 48-year-old ex-EastEnders’ star, who narrates TOWIE and was a runner-up in Strictly, said she is a `tough old cookie’ who is preparing to try online dating for the first time in a bid to find new love.

She told Fearne Cotton’s Happy Place podcast she was recovering from her break-up and ‘open to’ another relationship.

“I’m good actually,” she said.

“I wasn’t good. I wouldn’t say I’m fully healed. But I am getting there.

“Also for the first time in my life I’m doing therapy.

“Because everything that happened floored me, literally floored me, I then wanted to understand why there seems to be a pattern on my side – why I allow myself to sometimes perhaps try to fix things and make things right.

She went on to say she is really ‘enjoying’ the process and feels ‘much better’ that she did.

“I’m actually really enjoying it because I’m learning so much about myself.

“I want to be the best person I can be for my next relationship.

“I feel I’m getting a lot out of it. So I feel so much better than I did.”

She now realised ‘we are not all the same’ and though she may have a ‘little bit of an issue’ over trusting someone new she was ‘open to it’.

“I did download a dating app the other day but I haven’t gone on it. I’m so scared. It would be my first ever. I don’t know if it’s for me.

“I downloaded it and then I felt really awkward about it and I thought, ‘I don’t know if I can do this’.

“I know it is the modern way but I’m also very old fashioned.

“My morals, my values, the way I approach relationships is so old fashioned, and that’s also one of the issues that I’ve probably got. My parents have been together forever, so that’s my benchmark.

“I just don’t know if I’m ready to swipe just yet. A few months ago I wouldn’t even have considered it.”

Her decision to join the app comes shortly after her devastating split from Eddie.
