Doctor Strange and Sherlock actor Benedict Cumberbatch is the current favourite to win Best Leading Actor at the EE BAFTA Awards 2022, ahead of Will Smith, Stephen Graham and Mahershala Ali.
Benedict is nominated for his role in Western drama The Power Of The Dog, where he plays ranch owner Phil Burbank.
Bookmaker William Hill has now listed him as the odds-on favourite to win Best Leading Actor at the EE BAFTA Awards 2022 with odds of 4-6, when the ceremony is held on Sunday, March 13, 2022.
The critically acclaimed Power Of The Dog is also in the running to win Best Film and best adapted screenplay, while actors Kodi Smith-McPhee and Jesse Plemons have both been nominated for Best Supporting Actor.
Jane Campion is also nominated for Best Director.
However, Benedict faces tough competition from a number of Hollywood stars in the Best Leading Actor category.
These include Will Smith, who received a Best Leading Actor nomination for his role in King Richard, as the father of Tennis champions Serena and Venus Williams.
His current odds to win Best Leading Actor at the BAFTA Awards 2022 stand at 11-10.
He is closely followed by fellow nominees Stephen Graham (Boiling Point), Leonardo Di Caprio (Don’t Look Up) and Mahershala Ali (Swan Song), whose odds currently stand at 14-1, and Adeel Akhtar in Ali & Ava, whose odds are currently 33-1.
The Power Of The Dog is also nominated alongside Licorice Pizza, Kenneth Branagh’s Belfast, sci-fi epic Dune and Netflix’s Don’t Look Up in the Best Film category.
With a range of critically acclaimed films and artists in the running for awards at the EE BAFTAs 2022, the winners are currently too close to call – but all eyes will certainly be on the Royal Albert Hall when the ceremony takes place in March.
