Doctor Who and Yasmin Khan’s “will they-won’t they?” lesbian romance will finally come to a head in the TV Easter special.
The blossoming relationship between the pair – played by Jodie Whittaker and Mandip Gill – has been a hot topic of conversation for the past four years.
In a story called Arachnids In The UK from 2018 – during Jodie’s first year as the Time Lord – they were asked if they were “an item”.
Whovians seized on this and started nicknaming The Doc and companion Yasmin “Thasmin” and penned fanfiction about their love story.
And, in Eve Of The Daleks earlier this year, fellow Tardis traveller Dan Lewis (John Bishop) revealed he had spotted the fact Yaz fancied the Time Lord and said: “Just tell her!”
Now the subject will be addressed in Legend Of The Sea Devils.
If they hook up it will be a TV first for the BBC sci-fi show, which next year marks its 60th anniversary.
Show runner Chris Chibnall said: “Yaz and the Doctor have hinted that they have feelings they are suppressing and keeping quiet about. So there are some conversations that need to be had and you’ll see those conversations developing and taking place.”
Mandip adds: “The relationship between the Doctor and Yaz has definitely developed further.
“There’s a lot of bravery, there’s a lot of emotion and a lot of understanding. There’s a lot of open and honest conversations.”
Bishop adds: “It was obvious there were feelings between them. Sometimes you just have to act on them, otherwise if you don’t it will be too late.”
The episode will be the second special in a trilogy of episodes that mark Jodie’s final outing as the Thirteenth Doctor.
Guest stars Crystal Yu, Arthur Lee and Marlow Chan-Reeves make their debut as Madame Ching, Ji-Hun and Ying Ki.
The special will air on April 17, 2022.
