Duchess Meghan Markle 'envied' Paris Hilton because she 'didn't grow up pretty'

Meghan Markle has admitted she envied Paris Hilton because she “did not grow up pretty” like the hotel heiress did.

The Duchess welcomed the American TV star onto her Spotify podcast Archetypes, where the pair discussed the star’s image as a “bimbo” and feeling “objectified by misrepresentation.”

During a chat with Variety magazine, mother-of-two Meghan admitted that she was “jealous” of the blonde star when she wads younger because she “didn’t grow up pretty.”

She said: “I was embarrassed to admit it, but I’ve had a judgment about her that’s based on everything I’ve seen, and I don’t like to come from a place of judgment.

“But I also didn’t grow up pretty.”

Seemingly confused, the reporter asked the Suits alum to clarify what she meant by the statement.

She went on to explain that she grew up as “the smart one” and that she envied Paris’ good looks.

“I grew up as the smart one. So much of what I ended up thinking about, when I thought about Paris, was envy and judgment — two of the most dangerous things,” Markle explained.

“But then you hear about her trauma and her life and her buying into this persona.”

Markle, 41, insisted that Hilton’s appearance on “Archetypes” was meant to be a “humanization of her” and not a “defense of” her.

“I don’t care what situation you’re in — if a 16-year-old boy or girl, or a woman in the workplace, feels objectified or dehumanized because their character is misrepresented,” Markle added.

“I hope everyone listening with an open mind could come away thinking, ‘Could I just actually consider for a second that there’s a person there?’”

Hilton, 41, has transformed from the “Simple Life” reality star to a woman who is advocating for change in light of the sexual abuse she allegedly faced at the Provo Canyon School in Utah when she was a teen.

During the interview, Paris said she had crafted her famous “baby voice” and “dumb blonde” façade as a way of protecting herself.

“When you’re on TV it’s not the same – my voice, everything just changes like I have naturally a very low voice. But then on the show it’s gets very very high,” she said.

Paris added: “It was a reaction to having a mask to protect myself. So it could be like they’re not talking about me, they’re talking about this character that I created.
