EastEnders delivered yet another blockbuster Christmas episode, with a heroic Mick Carter diving from a cliff to save his beloved Linda and appearing to drown.
Fans were left devastated as evil Janine Butcher and Linda drove off a cliff after Mick ended things with the soap villain, who claims she is pregnant with his child.
Earlier, the truth about the car crash was finally revealed as Scarlett Butcher exposed Janine’s schemes – with all hell breaking loose in The Queen Vic during the Christmas Day episode.

As Mick’s world imploded around him, he and ex-wife Linda confronted Janine, with Janine then driving off a cliff with Linda as passenger, and Mick jumping in to save them.
The shocking Christmas Day episode left fans in tears, as Mick was nowhere to be seen while Linda screamed for him after she and Janine managed to get out of the water.
One said: “Don’t want to watch this regardless of how he goes I’m gutted to see Danny Dyer leave the role of Mick.”
A second commented: “Can’t believe this is Mick’s last Christmas on the Square.”
A third tweeted: “Edge of my seat the whole time you better bring Mick back now stop it.”
And someone else added: “Wow that was such an emotional episode of EastEnders tonight I can’t believe that Mick Carter is gone.”
However, it does not look good for Mick Carter, after actor Danny Dyer announced his departure from the soap earlier this year.
Mick’s exit storyline had been kept closely under wraps, but BBC bosses had previously teased “tragedy” for him and Linda – with his death almost surely sealed following EastEnders’ heartbreaking Christmas Day episode.
But what will happen to Linda and Janine?
Although neither star has announced their departure from the soap, Linda Carter actress Kellie Bright previously addressed her character’s future at the TV Choice Awards, suggesting that Linda is not going anywhere for now.
She told Daily Star: “I’m staying for the foreseeable future.
“I’m still having a great time there and I’ve always said I’ve loved it and I feel quite excited about what the future might bring for Linda.
“It’s going to be a brand new chapter for her and I don’t know what that looks like.
“She has been with him since they were kids. It’s all she’s ever known and I think she’s going to find it hard.”
Speaking about co-star Danny Dyer’s exit, she also shared her love for the actor, as she added: “I’m not very good at saying goodbye at the best of time but everything about that job has been me and him so it did feel like the end of an era.
“Danny is so well loved there and there was a lot of care and attention and the scenes had the best team behind it.”
EastEnders airs Monday to Thursday on BBC One at 7.30pm
