EastEnders star Katie Jarvis was pictured arriving at court today (April 19) after being accused of yelling “black lives don’t matter.”
In July 2020, the 30-year-old was allegedly seen on video having a row with a group of women outside of a bar in Essex.
It was claimed that during the alleged rampage, she shouted: “I was on EastEnders, I am a celebrity.”
The star is accused of assault, racially aggravated harassment, common assault and two counts of assault by beating.
Jarvis, who played Hayley Slater on EastEnders from 2018 to 2019, had denied all four charges.
The actress arrived at Basildon Crown Court this morning and was seen talking on the phone outside.
The alleged incident took place on July 31 last year, where it was claimed that Jarvis shouted at a group of women outside the Papillon pub in Southend before assaulting them.
It was also claimed she shouted abuse at a man at a takeaway on Pier Hill later that evening.
After being denied entry into a seafront hotel, Jarvis allegedly became aggressive and shouted threats to a member of staff, before slapping an 11-year-old girl.
Prosecutor Ashley Petchey told the court: “This concerns Miss Jarvis who has come to Southend-on-Sea.
“Over the course of three hours, she has committed racially aggravated offences on a number of different people.”
Tahmine Majid, representing Jarvis, and told the court that she intended to plead not guilty to the charges as she was the victim who was acting in self-defence.
She said: “She is a victim abused and attacked and that she acted in self-defence in relation to all the charges.”
Jarvis made her on-screen debut in 2009 when she starred as Mia Williams in drama film Fish Tank.
She later went on to star as Haley Slater in EastEnders, where she was well-known for her fling with Kat Slater’s husband Alfie Moon.
