EastEnders teases Grant Mitchell return as Sharon says he's on 'next flight'

EastEnders fans are convinced the return of Grant Mitchell (Ross Kemp) is imminent after the latest episode.

Monday’s edition (July 11) of the BBC One soap saw Phil explain his shock return from the dead to mourners at Peggy’s.

Those gathered included Kat Slater (Jessie Wallace), Sam Mitchell (Kim Medcalf) and Sharon Watts (Letitia Dean), who previously contacted Phil’s brother Grant about his supposed death.

Following several mentions of Grant during Monday’s episode, fans were left convinced the character would soon return to Walford after Grant called Sharon back while she was talking to Phil.

Sharon later revealed to an irate Phil that Grant said he would come back to Albert Square in the near-future.

Of Grant, she said: “He was kind. I was a complete mess, blubbing like a baby.

“He was comforting. He said he’d come over on the next flight.”

Following the episode, soap fans were also left convinced that Grant would soon return to Walford.

One impatient fan wrote: “Jeez EastEnders, when’s Grant coming back? You really are teasing us now.”

Another commented: “Can Grant just come back already?! All these calls better be leading to something.”

Meanwhile, a third fan said: “‘Come over on the next flight’. GRANT CAMEO?”

A fourth viewer quipped: “So which episode will get the duff duffs of Grant returning??”

Phil and Sharon had a dramatic showdown about the absent character after he called her phone

“If EastEnders keep dangling the Grant-carrot by mentioning him and then not bring him back, then I don’t want it,” another fan said.

Monday’s show also saw Sharon and Kat clash over Phil, with Kat calling Sharon a “s**g” and Sharon claiming she could have Phil back if she wanted.
