If you’ve been missing seeing unwarranted bits on mainstream telly, then have no fear because Embarrassing Bodies is here.
Set to make its return to screens this Thursday (May 19), the rebooted series will bring a brand-new cast of medical professionals, who are off to uncover a new array of medical mysteries across the UK.
The original show, which spanned from 2007 until 2015, showed doctors Christian Jessen, Dawn Harper and Pixie McKenna getting to the bottom (sometimes literally) of cases that range from jaw-dropping to gut-wrenching.
Daily Star has now revisited some of the show’s most shocking moments that still leave us dumbfounded to this day ahead of the new series.
A strong reminder to readers that this article is not for the squirmish.
Man breasts produce milk
Contrast to belief, men can, in theory, produce breastmilk.
As male breasts have milk ducts as well as the mammary tissue, hormones and other bits that are responsible for production, the condition is rare but not impossible.
But for 26-year-old, Amir, his three-year-long secret involving his breasts had proven unbearable.
Calling his situation “embarrassing” as he believed he had a “woman’s chest area”, Amir was so frightful about the fact that his breasts could lactate that he had never told his own wife.
Dr. Christian, who examined Amir, argued it was due to a “hormonal problem” that affected his “sex drive”, which ultimately led to Amir producing breast milk.
Excessively ‘large vagina’
Originally aired in April 2009, guest Brigittie visited the clinic to request help for her large vagina that she tearfully explained made her “depressed” and left her with “no femininity”.
She further revealed that her husband refused to have sex with her until the issue was rectified, as she slept in a separate bedroom from him.
Brigitte suffered from vaginal prolapse, a condition in which structures such as the uterus, rectum, bladder, urethra, small bowel, or the vagina itself may begin to prolapse, or fall out of their normal positions.
Louis visited the clinic to seek treatment on a condition that had “made her life a misery” for the last nine years.
She suffered from what she thought was excruciatingly painful thrush that was so bad she couldn’t even walk.
Thrush is a common yeast infection that affects men and women.
It also affected her dating life, revealing to the doctors on the programme that she had not been with a partner for four years, as the thrush “got in the way”.
But it eventually turned out that Louis hadn’t been suffering from thrush and instead had a small cut on the surface of her vagina.
At 21, clinic patient Jay confessed he was not advised to ever brush his teeth as a child, which led to his teeth deteriorating.
Jay admitted that his teeth were further damaged by “eating the wrong foods” and “drinking fizzy drinks”, while he continued to not brush his teeth or try flossing.
He was then told that tartar and bacteria had been building up, causing the teeth to decay over the course of his 20 years of living.
Dentist Dr. James Russell described the case as being so severe that Jay needed to remove 11 teeth or more, through dental implants.
Excessive sweating ‘rots feet’
Annette visited the clinic to speak out about an issue that had affected her since childhood.
Her hands and feet sweated excessively to the extent that her feet began to rot, which affected her wearing any shoes she wanted.
It got so bad that her sweating rotted even her footwear, and she struggled to “walk around the house barefoot”.
Dr. Pixie stated that she was suffering from a sweating abnormality known as hyperhidrosis, a sweating abnormality, as well as bacteria that has accumulated onto her feet.
