Emmerdale Chrissie White star after soap death – drunken ‘affair’ to Charley Webb feud

Emmerdale fans had mixed feelings about Home Farm matriarch Chrissie White during her ITV soap stint from 2014 until her death in 2018.

Though often manipulative – especially when husband Robert Sugden was concerned – Chrissie had her moments, and was involved in storylines like dealing with her son Lachlan’s sexual assault on Alicia and her father Lawrence being shot.

Eventually, Chrissie was tragically killed off in a car crash orchestrated by her son, alongside her dad Lawrence – before Lachlan went on to more notorious crimes.

To commemorate Chrissie’s soap death in 2018, we take a look into actress Louise Marwood’s personal life – from her feud with co-star Charley Webb to her alleged affair.

Drunken ‘affair’

Louise was accused of having an affair with a sound man who worked on Emmerdale back in 2015.

The pair allegedly had a fling on a night out in Leeds before he headed home to his girlfriend.

Louise sent a message back to the girlfriend informing her she “didn’t know” he had a girlfriend and was “truly sorry” for the heartache.

Just months later, Louise was spotted out in London following a night out to the swanky Groucho Club – barefoot.

The star was papped ordering food from a Soho Chinese restaurant dressed in patterned blue-and-white pants and a loose white blouse, with a pair of brown heeled shoes and orange cardigan in hand.

With her brunette tresses falling down past her shoulders, Louise paired the glam look with a white shell necklace and matching bracelet, with her handbag slung over one shoulder.

Despite having her shoes in hand, Louise didn’t put them back on before leaving the takeaway, and instead proceeded to walk out into a street strewn with litter, looking slightly downcast.

TV blunder

Back when she was still starring in Emmerdale in 2015, Louise accidentally confirmed on Good Morning Britain that her character Chrissie wouldn’t be killed off.

While discussing the disaster week which saw a helicopter crash into the village, Ben Shephard told Louise: “The best way to leave a soap is with a huge bang.”

Louise then responded: “And we’re left to deal with the aftermath” – confirming Chrissie survived the incident.

Susanna Reid quickly pointed out: “Ah, ‘we’? So that suggests you’re one of the survivors” – leaving Louise red-faced.

Charley Webb feud

Emmerdale star Charley Webb, who played Debbie Dingle in the soap before reportedly quitting for good, became involved in a social media spat with Louise over one controversial figure.

Charley messaged former GMB star Piers Morgan about whether window cleaners counted as key workers during the lockdown – apparently painting him as an expert on the matter.

Charley posted: “I know window cleaners and gardeners work outside but surely they’re not essential workers.

“Shouldn’t they be staying at home? They’ve been at two of our neighbours today, I’m confused about this ‘lockdown’.

“Shouldn’t we all just be at home unless we absolutely can’t? @piersmorgan.”

Louise couldn’t help but quote Charley as she wondered: “Why are you asking him?”

Charley quickly hit back, insisting it “wasn’t a question”, posting: “Have you not been reading his feed? It wasn’t really a question, it was a discussion. This has been the only thing on GMB and I’ve been following it. Why?”

Fans soon leapt to Charley’s defence, with one writing: “@piersmorgan has been addressing this issue on @GMB every morning and the only clarification that we can get is on programs like this so think Charley has the right to question/ask.”

Secret Emmerdale character

Chrissie wasn’t the first character Louise played

Even the keenest Emmerdale fan might not know that Louise actually played a very different character in the soap before being cast as Chrissie.

She first starred in a 2010 episode as Fiona Heath, one of Nicola King’s former school friends.

Fiona went on a date with Nicola’s much older dad Rodney after spotting him in a lonely hearts column, and was left astonished to discover Rodney had a daughter Nicola’s age.

Though Rodney let her down gently, Fiona suggested they see each other again, and departed after writing her number on the soap stalwart’s hand.
