Emmerdale fans will remember Finn Barton as a shy, rather awkward character known for his unlucky in love relationships and friendship with Victoria Sugden.
But actor Joe Gill looks nothing like his character almost five years after leaving the Yorkshire-based soap.
The brother of Ross and Pete Barton and half-brother of Adam, Finn was a much-loved member of the ITV Dales, involved in storylines including a date rape arc and tracking down his mother Emma – along with his brief relationship with Kasim Sabet.
He was sadly killed off in October 2017 after being accidentally shot by his own mum, before suffering a cardiac arrest that proved to be fatal.
Finn usually sported thick-rimmed square glasses and a mop of dark brunette hair, and tended to opt for a more formal look of blazers and crisp shirts.
But in real life, actor Joe tends to go for a more casual look.
On his Instagram, he can be seen in a variety of comfortable long-sleeved shirts and khaki pants, or else going for a more outdoorsy look of hoodies, thick coats and boots.
But the biggest transformation is his form – as he turned out to be quite the hunk.
Joe now sports a full brunette beard and longer curly locks, and has filled out into his broad shoulders and muscular frame.
In a new series of headshots, Joe can be seen with his wavy hair worn loose in a halo around his face, while his bright blue eyes gaze into the camera – completing the look with an open denim shirt and brown t-shirt.
In his most recent snap, Joe posed alongside his mum, giving her a cheeky cuddle to celebrate Mother’s Day.
He wrote alongside the snap: “Happy Mother’s Day, Mum. You’re an inspiration & an absolute warrior.”
Joe is far removed from his Emmerdale character in more ways than just his looks, and when he accepted the part of Finn he knew he would have male love interests, and wanted to play someone “removed from himself”.
Joe said at the time: “I think it’s been really good for me to play a character that’s far removed from myself. It means that I get to see things from someone else’s point of view, and learn and understand things that maybe I wouldn’t have done if I hadn’t played Finn”.
At the time of finishing up in Emmerdale, he had been dating his girlfriend Melissa for three years – however, it is unclear whether they are still together, as she hasn’t featured on his social media since 2018.
Emmerdale airs weeknights from 7:30pm on ITV.
