Emmerdale fans are sure that Jai Sharma could turn full on villain and cash in on his dad’s health problems after Rishi suffered an angina attack.
In Tuesday’s episode (February 8) Rishi was seen in the hospital recovering from an acute angina attack that daughter Priya warned it could soon signal a heart attack or stroke.
It came after Jai sprung the decision to sell their house from under them on the pair, leaving Rishi collapsing in the driveway after Jai railed at both him and Priya – with many fans accusing him of killing his dad.
But though Rishi survived, fans think Jai could be seeing pound signs in the form of Rishi’s life insurance.
If Rishi were to die and had taken the insurance out, it would likely mean his money going to Jai and Priya – allowing Jai to pay off his spiralling loans taken out in Laurel’s name and to save their house.
And one phone call clued fans in onto Jai’s latest scheme, as Jai called the hospital to check on his dad’s progress.
However, one fan suggested: “Jai checking Dad’s insurance status pretending to call the hospital?! #Emmerdale.”
Another quickly agreed: “Definitely possible knowing Jai!”
And if Jai was already up for making his dad and sister homeless, what other lengths would he go to to conceal his lies from Laurel?
Last night, fans were certain Rishi was already dead, with one frantically posting: “Well done Jai, you may [have] just killed your dad! #Emmerdale.”
As someone else wailed: “Jai killed Rishi, hate him even more now #Emmerdale.”
Later in the episode, Bernice told Laurel all about Jai’s plan to evict her – and Laurel shared her plans to apply for a mortgage.
But as Kim has already said, the application will fail due to Jai’s sky-high payday loans.
Taking to Twitter, one fan posted: “OMG this is it! Jai’s well and truly screwed once Laurel’s mortgage application fails and she starts to question why…”
“Laurel will go spare at Jai when she finds out he has committed fraud!” another said.
As a third fan echoed: “Laurel is going to have a shock when she applies for a mortgage now Jai got a loan in her name!”
Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7pm on ITV.
