Emmerdale’s Marlon star thanks Corrie actress for saying he’s ‘taken for granted’

Emmerdale star Mark Charnock has thanked one Coronation Street actress after she said he is “taken for granted”.

Mark, who plays Marlon Dingle in the ITV Dales, is currently involved in a poignant and heartbreaking storyline after his character suffered a life-changing stroke.

Marlon is in hospital, hardly able to move or speak – with his family torn apart by his illness.

And though Mark is used to playing a rather comedic character in Marlon’s adventures with best pal Paddy and unlucky love life, many fans are calling for him to win an award for his excellent acting.

Now Mark has reached out on Twitter to thank Coronation Street actress Georgia Taylor – who plays Toyah Battersby on the cobbles – for her kind comments.

Georgia posted: “When actors are consistently brilliant and understated they can fall under the radar/be taken for granted. Especially in soaps.

“So it’s glorious to see @markcharnock @ZoeHenry03 [Rhona Goskirk] @dominicbrunt [Paddy Dingle] firmly in the spotlight.”

She added: “They are doing such beautiful, tender, work and being appreciated.”

Paddy star Dominic also reached out to thank Georgia, writing: “Georgia!! Thank you. What a lovely, selfless and supportive thing to say from such a talent as yourself.

“Very much appreciated and very touched. Thank you x.”

While Georgia’s Corrie co-star Sally Carman chimed in: “Beautifully said.”

Meanwhile, Mark’s fans have been calling for him to be awarded a gong at the next soap awards ceremony, with one rallying on Twitter: “Hopefully this year will finally be the year Mark Charnock wins Best Actor at the British Soap Awards. His performance has been incredible.”

Someone else agreed: “With soap awards making a return this year Mark Charnock could be in with a shout he has been doing such a good job so far!”

“Marlon telling Rhona to go home. Zoe and mark’s ability to make me cry in every single scene, they already deserve all the awards for this storyline!” another fan gushed.

Emmerdale airs weekdays from 7:30pm on ITV.
