Emmerdale fans were left speechless after fan-favourite Dominic Brunt announced his huge career U-turn on Twitter.
The long-standing show regular – who is used to portraying the role of the village vet in the ITV soap – is set to take on a new role behind the camera after he shared his latest project on social media.
On Monday (May 2) the 52-year-old actor excitedly shared his news with his loyal legion of fans online as he prepares to produce his upcoming horror movie titled Inbred.
He tweeted: “Darlings!!!! Anyway, I’m out of Twitter prison for following too many people too quickly. Last but one hassle here:-
“If you follow us @wolfmanorfilm we’ll follow you back. It’s a werewolf film!! What’s not to like???!! Thank you sincerely,” which he signed off with three kisses.
And in a newly-released clip from the movie, the beloved star is even set to make a cameo appearance in the terrifying film through the role of a chainsaw-wielding cannibal named Podge in the gory film.
The video shows Dominic dancing around to Ed By Gum alongside a slew of residents in the remote Yorkshire village of Mortlake.
His terrifying movie is set to hit theatres on Friday, September 21 before it will be available to purchase on DVD and Blue-ray on Monday, October 15.
But this isn’t the only movie the star has got his teeth into, after Brunt managed to get behind the camera once again to direct another horror movie called Before Dawn, which is set to launch its premiere in Yorkshire next month.
It comes after the beloved soap star confessed he wouldn’t have been able to make it onto the long-standing show without the help of fellow legendary co-star Norman Bowler.
As he reflected on his first week on the soap last month, the actor claimed he had initially been contracted for only a handful of episodes.
He told The Express at the time: “I came for eight episodes and on the last day Norman Bowler who used to play Frank Tate asked, ‘Have you enjoyed yourself?’
“I told him I’d loved it and wished I could stay a bit longer. So, he told me to go upstairs, knock on the producer’s door and tell them exactly that.”
Dominic later added to The Mirror: “I was really nervous; I didn’t think it was my place. But I did it. And four months later they’d written me back in.”
