The fight had resulted in him falling to the ground, hitting his head and momentarily losing consciousness.

The revelation, which came about via Luke and Lee’s mother Wendy, caused Victoria to end her romantic relationship with Luke.

Now that Luke has left the village, Victoria has set her sights on bringing the new evidence to light and trying to get Robert out of prison.

One fan gushed on Reddit: “I remember they had that whole mini story of potentially getting Robert out of prison a bit earlier.

“Ethan shot it down but they can spin anything. Of course I don’t expect him back full time but maybe even seeing him for a conversation where they bring that back up again or something?”

Another said: “How bizarre I have also been wondering this recently! But unfortunately I do not see a loophole in a storyline in which he may return in such short notice… but he may be a surprise return in which have not been released to any spoiler outlets?

“Would be incredible to see especially as it wouldn’t be expected.”

Victoria’s plight to free Robert saw her meet with lawyer Ethan Anderson in The Woolpack, where he informed her that “the best she can hope for is that his sentence will be shortened”.

“Well, it’s worth it then,” Victoria said with an optimistic smile, to which Ethan replied: “I’m talking as little as a few months. Whatever happens, Robert won’t be home anytime soon.”

Victoria then urged Ethan to go ahead with submitting for the appeal and walked off to get some drinks, but Ethan encouraged Diane to try and make Victoria see sense, suggesting that there’s only “a slim chance” that her plan will have a positive outcome.

Danny Miller’s return as Aaron has already been confirmed by the soap for the 50th anniversary.
