Ex-BBC star Dan Walker warns fans 'don't watch' Prince Harry and Meghan Markle series

Dan Walker has defended Prince Harry and Meghan Markle from critics following the release of their new Netflix documentary.

The former BBC Breakfast host took to Twitter on Thursday (December 8) to slam royal critics who have claimed they don’t care about the Sussexes yet continue to post about them on social media.

It comes after the first three episodes of Harry and Meghan’s explosive six-part series, titled Harry & Meghan, came to Netflix on Thursday.

Dan threw his support behind Harry and Meghan, suggesting such critics were hypocritical and urging them not to watch Harry and Meghan’s Netflix documentary if they’re really not bothered about them.

The Channel 5 presenter penned: “Here’s an idea… if you are one of those people telling everyone you “don’t care about Harry and Meghan then don’t post about them and don’t watch them on Netflix #HarryandMeghanNetflix.”

Dan’s tweet divided fans as some agreed with his point and others weren’t so happy.

One fan wrote: “Quite agree. I’ve no opinion or interest & no intention of watching it on TV or indeed even reading about them on social media. Their lives, their choices. Good luck to them.”

However, another felt like the broadcaster was telling people what to do as they hit back: “Who are you to tell people what they can and can’t post, or have an opinion on?”

Dan himself replied to the comment to clarify his position and insist that wasn’t his point, writing: “Hiya. That’s not my point. There are lots of people saying they “don’t care about them” and then proving how much they care about them by ranting about them.

“Feel free to vent your opinion on anything… it just seems strange to do the “I don’t care but…”

The first episode of the tell-all series focuses on Harry’s time in the public eye and he and Meghan’s romance.

The subject of the opener reads: “As Harry shares the impact of a childhood in the public eye, he and Meghan reflect on the secret, early days of their unexpected romance.”

Harry & Meghan is now available to stream on Netflix
