Ex judge Arlene Phillips says hoping for return to BBC's Strictly is 'waste of time'

Strictly Come Dancing star Arlene Phillip has revealed that show bosses won’t have her back on the show.

Despite wanting to go back on the show as a judge, she says BBC bosses would have given her the call by now if they were going to ever ask her back.

Arlene, 79, exclusively told the Daily Star: “They won’t ask me so I never think about it or dream about something that’s not going to happen.

“It’s a waste of dreaming time, isn’t it? I just don’t think they would, you know if they were going to they would have asked me by now.

“I love the show and I love judging it and I love judging. I do miss it, I’ve always missed it but again I have to move on in life.

“Things come and go and certainly when you get to my age, I’ve done that, I’ve loved it and now you know there are so many new adventures out there that keep unfolding for me, so yeah – I always think I’m a little bit bonkers but I’m just totally committed to a life in dance.”

She also argued that Tony Adams should get the boot from the show, in order to save more talented stars from leaving.

She said: “I’m just surprised he’s so popular he is trying and he’s made a slight improvement last week but there’s something about Katya’s partners, she certainly makes the most of the partners she gets. Whoever she is with, she works it and works them.

“Tony, I’m not a massive fan. He’s trying hard but when I keep seeing Molly and Carlos in the bottom two, ugh…

Arlene continued: “The reason why I like Molly is that she is so full of optimism when she dances she will always put whatever she can into it and I’d like to see her continue in the competition but I fear not because a lot of the audience think of hardworking Tony.

“He is working hard but I’d like to see her go further, so I think it is his time.

“We saw with Ellie going home last week that when you get the bottom two and it’s two couples that you don’t want to go but one of them has to go.”

Strictly Come Dancing: The Results: airs Sunday night on BBC One at 7.20pm
