Former Love Island star Brett Staniland has made a dig at Gemma Owen after she signed a deal with PrettyLittleThing.
The runner-up of the latest series of the hit ITV dating show announced her six-figure deal with the fast fashion retailer on Monday (August 22) after signing the lucrative contract which will see her launch her own collection with the brand and help to promote their new reselling platform.
The sought after deal will see Gemma follow in the footsteps of fellow former Islander Molly-Mae Hague – who is now the creative director of the company.

However, not everyone was happy for Gemma after the announcement was made, with model and former bombshell islander Brett lashing out about why it is fast fashion brands appoint celebrity ambassadors.
He took to his social media pages to post a lengthy rant about the complexities of the issue of fast fashion and what it represents in the industry.
He wrote: “Let’s get one thing straight. Fast fashion brands aren’t using influencers and celebrities as ambassadors to show working class or poor people somewhere affordable to shop.
“They use them to convince people who have the money, to massively over-consume impossibly cheap clothing.”
Brett then continued his argument as he wrote in the caption: “Following on from frustrating conversations I’ve heard recently around fast fashion and affordability, todays announcements reignited those discussions.
“@ajabarber and @venetialamanna speak brilliantly on these topics – the affordability of these brands is not what they want to represent. ‘Mor’” at any and all costs is their brand.
“As we have all said before, we are not trying to target or hold working class folk accountable and any conversation around that is missing the point.
“We want a fairer fashion industry for all including those making our clothes who have less choice than any of us in the global north.”
Brett previously supported the move to sponsorship by eBay using pre-loved clothing for this year’s Love Island.
He previously lashed out at PrettyLittleThing when he took part in a protest outside Molly-Mae’s fashion show at the Londoner Hotel.
Standing with his fellow protestors outside the even he held up a sign reading: “There’s nothing pretty about wage theft.”
Brett told OK! Magazine: “The fashion industry doesn’t get taken seriously with the climate crisis. Boohoo Group don’t care about anyone, and they contribute more to the crisis than any other fashion brand in the UK.”
