Friday the 13th Part 2 star Jack Marks has died aged 86 after a congestive heart failure battle, his wife confirmed.
The actor’s loving wife Linda – who he was married to for 39 years – shared the heartbreaking news with his co-star Bill Randolph on Monday afternoon.
According to his wife, the Hollywood actor spent the last two years of his life in his Brooklyn home where he received hospice care before he passed away.
In a lengthy statement, the widow penned: “Jack had a substantial acting career, both before and after we moved to Westbeth, twenty-odd years ago.
“He mostly did off-Broadway and regional theatre. His biggest venues were touring nationally as the father in Briton Beach Memoirs and dying heroically in the movie Friday the 13th Part 2.
“He was proudest of his starring dual performance in Athol Fugard’s play, Valley Song, which he performed on Martha’s Vineyard.
“He also relished performing the old man, Lazar Wolf, in three different out-of-town productions of Fiddler on the Roof.”
The Hollywood actor famously played the role of Deputy Winslow in the epic horror movie, who chases down an adult Jason Voorhees through the woods before he was brutally killed.
Before his role in the gruesome thriller, Marks stared in the 1976 TV movie Der gross Horizont, the 1988 film Anna and the popular TV series Ryan’s Hope.
His final appearance on screen was back in 1989 when he took part in the TV series Tattinger’s.
Since the news started to circulate online, fans of his work have flooded to social media to pay their respects and condolences to the grieving family online.
One user wrote: “I met Jack Marks in NYC back in 2013. He couldn’t have been nicer and was happy to tell Friday stories and sign autographs. RIP,”
Another added: “Bill Randolph has shared the sad news that Jack Marks has passed away. Rest In Peace, Jack. Thank you [heart emoji].”
