“It was liberating actually, there were no big events to go to. It was just like how I was before I was on TV.”

“Even when I’m on a date or meeting a new boy, I panic, because I think if that wind blows and he sees that bald patch on my head. I don’t want him going home and saying to my mate ‘oh my God, she’s basically bald.'”

Talking about where it all began, Sophie explained: “You’re talking eight or nine years in the house, that’s quite a lot of stress only hair, we had to dry straighten and have it glam every day with no break. When I’ve been on TV all of those years it’s a massive factor towards it.

“The damage started in the early days especially when I was blonde, that was the biggest regret I’ve ever done. My hair was just like cotton wool. The only thing could do was to get extensions to make it thicker and longer.”

When asked if her insecurities had affected her mental health, she luckily shared that it hadn’t after growing a “thick skin”.

Sophie continued: “I’m not that kind of person I’m really strong-minded. I’ve had all the backlash off Geordie Shore, you grow really thick skin. But what I’m more concerned about is when I’m dating. I’m single so when I’m seeing or meeting a boy, or seeing someone new and I’m lying in bed with them and the bald part is hanging out – that’s when I get self-conscious.

“Though when I’ve got my hair in curls, I feel like a different person, it’s like an alter ego. My real name is Sophia so when I’ve got my curls in I am Sophia.

Talking about her inspiration for her new business, she added: “At the end of the day, I just want girls going forward to really embrace their naturally curly hair because it is beautiful.

The star also teased a big Geordie Shore reunion, that she says is coming to screens soon.

She added: “It’s going to be mega. I’m excited to showcase my curls on TV. You should be finding out in the next couple of weeks but let’s just say it’s going to be MEGA and all the old faces are going to be back.”
