This Morning chef Gino D’Acampo has announced that he is leaving the show to go and live in Italy.
The culinary expert made the revelation to show hosts Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby as he joined them on Tuesday’s (March 29) instalment of the hit ITV daytime programme.
Revealing his news Gino, 45, admitted that he wouldn’t be back for quite a while and probably wouldn’t be joining them in the studio again until autumn or even winter.
He said: “I was just walking around because I am a little bit sad today because I am going to go to Italy very soon, so this is my last This Morning, until probably autumn or winter.”
Phil made a playful jibe at him responding: “Thank god for that.”
Gino then continued: “Unless you two are going to come to the island of Sardinia and do something live there.
“Do not panic, because I have so many beautiful things for you.”
Gino has been a regular chef on This Morning for 13 years since his 2009 debut in the kitchen.
The popular Italian meal maker has previously talked about how he feels it is important to have six months break every year to enjoy life.
He explained: “I’ve been having six months off for the last eight to 10 years. I am a great believer that you need to have balance in life.
“If I work for six months, then I want to have a holiday for six months because my life cannot always be about work.”
He added: “I admire and respect people who have a lot of time for work. I have a lot of friends that do that but it’s not me.
“I think there are so many beautiful things in life that you can do that have got nothing to do with work and if one has the chance, then you should take it.”
Fans of Gino took to Twitter to comment on his departure with one writing: “So glad that Holly and Phil are now back taking part in cooking. It’s so much better and way more fun! Especially with Gino. Shame that will be the first and last time they will cook with him for a while.”
This Morning airs weekdays at 10 am on ITV and ITV Hub.
