Good Morning Britain has been hit with over 50 complaints following an interview with Katie Price.
Katie appeared on the ITV morning show on January 4 as she gave her first interview following her drink-driving car crash where she was spared jail and given a suspended prison sentence.
At the time, the reality star said she wasn’t ready to talk about the “traumatic events” prior to the crash, but explained to viewers that there were numerous events which resulted in her getting in her vehicle.
In new details shared by Ofcom it was revealed that on January 4 53 complaints were submitted about Good Morning Britain, all relating to an interview with Katie Price.
As she was welcomed on GMB, the first thing that was mentioned was her crash as Susanna Reid said to Katie: “You must be thankful that you’re not in jail… you managed to avoid a jail sentence, things could have been very different.”
However, Katie told the host that she wasn’t ready to talk about it just yet.
At the time, she said: “What I can say is that obviously I went to The Priory and I’ve made the decision finally that I see a therapist every week forever.”
Katie added: “There were traumatic events that led me up that path because I’m very good at hiding things.”
She continued: “When I’m ready to talk about it I will come on and talk about it. There are reasons why I got in that car and my mental state.”
Katie said she felt “ashamed”, and said she was still dealing with some of the “traumatic reasons now”.
On the day of the interview, some viewers shared their fury as they immediately questioned the reason for her interview on the show.
Some viewers questioned why Katie wasn’t prodded further, with one person writing on Twitter: “Your viewers deserve an apology for the Katie Price interview,” while another stated they were “shocked” GMB did the interview.
Later in the chat Katie shared how she was hoping that 2022 would be “her year”, and said she is focusing on making it drama-free.
Katie’s vow for a drama-free year comes after she was spared jail in December and given a 16-week prison sentence, suspended for 12 months.
