GMB star Ben Shephard shares emotional plea with fans in moving post for pal

Good Morning Britain presenter Ben Shephard paid a heart-warming tribute for one of his dear friends – as he rallied up his adoring online fans for support.

The 47-year-old TV host took to social media with an emotional post that included a sweet picture of a little girl sat with her mum while eating out.

On his Instagram story with the photo, he told his 501,000 followers to get behind his pal and “share her story”.

The Tipping Point star penned alongside the snap: “This is my brilliant friend @lizfraser1 and her gorgeous little girl Scout.”

He added: “Her recovery journey from what she’s been through is miraculous.

“I’m sure she will help many others who sadly find themselves in a similar position if they can find her!! So pls give her a follow and share her story.”

His chum Liz is a journalist, mum-of-four and author of the bestselling biography Coming Clean – which is a true story based on love, addiction and recovery.

In the touching memoir, Liz details her husbands heartbreaking journey through alcoholism after he’d slipped into a catastrophic vortex of depression, as the married couple kicked-off a new life in Venice, Italy, with a newborn.

Meanwhile, when it comes to using his platform to throw his weight behind friends and worthy causes Ben always proves to be forthcoming.

Only last month, the kind TV personality honoured his co-star Kate Garraway for her strength and courage as her husband Derek Draper continues to fight one of the worst bouts of COVID-19 doctors had seen.

Featuring an adorable picture of him and Kate stood arm in arm at the Loose Women studio, he wrote: “I’ve spent the last twenty two years working with @kategarraway, learning from Kate, cleaning up after Kate, but mostly laughing with Kate.”

He went on: “The last few years have been so so tough for her, Derek and their family. It’s incredibly brave that she’s sharing their story but one that she’s sharing for those that don’t have a voice.

“I couldn’t be more proud to call her a friend, and to be able to support her in any way I can. Thank you for all the messages I promise I’ll pass as many on as I can.”

The post was met with masses of praise, racking up over 96,000 likes with many commenting that Kate and Ben had a “beautiful friendship” on and off screens.
