Things became very uncomfortable during the latest installment of Good Morning Britain after presenter Kate Garraway was shut down by American lawyer Mitchell Epner.
The former federal prosecutor was forced to correct the host regarding her take on Prince Andrew’s legal battle of child sexual abuse by Virginia Giuffre and the infamous picture they shared together.
When Kate seemed to insinuate that there could be a reason for why Prince Andrew had his arm around Virginia due to being at a “party”, Mitchell shut her remarks down and reminded her of their age difference.
Interrupting her, Mitchell said: “Kate, Kate. I just have to break in there as a former sex crime prosecutor.
“40-year-old men don’t just randomly put their arms around 16 or 17-year-old girls they do not know or not related to, or not the children of friends at random parties.
“That does not occur,” he added.
Prince Andrew has categorically denied all allegations made against him and said he said he can not remember ever meeting Virginia.
When questioned by the BBC regarding the photo in 2019 and whether he could explain what was taking place, Prince Andrew said: “I can’t because I don’t…I have no…again I have absolutely no memory of that photograph ever being taken.”
After the awkward scene took place, GMB viewers flooded to Twitter to share their thoughts.
One spectator wrote: “Kate Garraway tries to defend the Prince Andrew photo and get slapped down by the lawyer.”
Another said: “Yes Mitchell.. Stopping Kate from interrupting!”
While a third upset fan penned: “You could not have found somebody worse to conduct this Prince Andrew interview with that American prosecutor than Kate Garraway. Loud, bumbling, lost.”
But Kate wasn’t the only one who came under immense fire by viewers on Thursday morning.
Journalist Quentin Letts also received criticism after he said he didn’t think the case was “serious” and believed “some of the claims are overwritten”.
Quentin also claimed that he doesn’t believe Prince Andrew is an integral member of the Royal Family which broadcaster Kate, 54, corrected him on.
Due to his nonchalant approach and strong opinions on the matter, fans rushed to Twitter to share their displeasure regarding his views.
One displeased viewer commented: “Well it doesn’t matter if he’s a sex offender! He’s not a significant member of the Royal family” wtf did I just hear? Nauseated face #GMB this guys got verbal diarrhoea!”
Another penned: “This guy is as out of touch with reality as Andrew is!! Get him off my telly please.”
Meanwhile a third raged: “The Comments by Quentin Letts about abuse victims are a disgrace.”
The Duke of York has been accused of child sexual abuse by Virginia who has claimed that as a minor she was sex trafficked to him by the convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
