GMB's Kate Garraway upset as co-star says Derek's romantic Paris gesture is gone

Kate Garraway was left saddened after learning a padlock that she and husband Derek Draper had placed on a famous Paris bridge had been removed.

Good Morning Britain star Andi Peters had taken to the French capital to introduce this week’s grand prize and during the discussion he shared news about the padlocks which had formerly been placed on the bridge.

He explained to hosts Kate, 54, and Ben Shephard, 47, that the bridge had been weighed down by too many “locks of love” therefore most had been disposed of.

Interjecting, Kate said: “Derek and I have a padlock on that bridge

Ben added: “Not anymore.”

She continued: “It says Mr and Mrs Draper.”

“No not anymore, Andi has said they’ve all been taken away. Were you not listening?” commented Ben.

“I know that they take them away periodically.”

Ben remarked: “No they’ve stopped people doing it.”

Taking no notice of her co-star Ben, Kate insisted: “Have a look Andi.”

Andi ran over to the four remaining locks that were placed in one corner and confirmed that Derek and Kate’s padlock was no more.

The competition host confirmed: “Now Kate, they’ve taken all of them away but there are four here… look three that people have put on.

“Look Kate, wouldn’t it be great if I could find yours but they have all gone.”

“I tell you what, where have they put them all? Do you want to dive in for a swim?” joked Derek’s wife.

The news lands after a teaser clip for Kate’s new documentary which explores her husbands recovery after his brutal Covid battle.

After suffering one of the worst bouts of Covid that experts had ever seen, the former Labour Party advisor was placed into a medically induced coma.

He spent 374 day in hospital before he was sent home to be with his family – Kate and their two children, Darcey, 15, and William, 12.

The upcoming documentary is a follow on from the award-winning Finding Derek which now explores life at home and the everyday struggles he faces.
