GMB’s Richard Madeley slams Matt Hancock over ‘pivoting’ admission on I’m A Celeb

Good Morning Britain’s Richard Madeley hit out at Matt Hancock after he shared his cunning “pivot” tactics on I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here!

During Monday’s visit to the ITV studio, the 66-year-old broadcaster welcomed viewers back to the breakfast show alongside his co-host Susanna Reid.

One of the biggest stories on everyone’s lips was the disgraced politician’s governmental admission during his time in the bug-infested jungle last week.

On the show, he confessed that many politicians – including himself – deliberately swerve questions in interviews and press conferences which they fondly named “pivoting”.

The former Health Secretary also offered an insight into how political figures ignore questions as he gave examples of how they would change the direction of questioning to better suit them.

And it’s fair to say the broadcaster was fuming at the televised admission as he brought up the confession on the morning show as he recalled times where Matt has “pivoted” during interviews.

From moments with former host Piers Morgan, to some of his live interviews before his resignation last year, the presenting duo analysed some of his TV interviews where he had successfully “pivoted” on the show.

The dad-of-two put the MP on blast as he disagreed with the entire idea of the strategy as he accused other political figures of deliberately “filling time” in interviews.

He fumed: “Admirable…what he’s saying is this is how we dodge your questions. And it’s not just our questions, because we ask the questions on behalf of you.

“So they are actually dodging your questions. What their prime and tested strategy is, is they give you an answer to a question you haven’t asked.”

Susanna rightly pointed out: “He even admitted that! So we have gone back through our Matt Hancock interviews and found out where he may have performed the pivot.”

After the enlightening clips aired, Richard slammed: “Pivot, pivot, pivot, pivot” before he recalled him most infuriating instance of this first hand with government minister, Gavin Williamson.

During the explosive interview, Richard cut off the politician live on ait after his questions were continually ignored on the show.

Susanna chimed in with: “As you say Richard, the point of it is these questions are asked by us on behalf of the voters.

“And if he is out and out saying that’s a deliberate strategy, that he claims that it is admirable…”

Richard cut in: “They also know these are live interviews and time is constrained, so they’re filling time and hoping to get to the end of the time that we’ve got.”
